BA HA HA. First I was going to say “nice hair, retardo montalbaun,” then I was going to quip “nice outfit - you just get back from 1993?” and THEN I saw the bracelet I had when I was eight… on Jared Leto’s wrist. And I didn’t know WHAT to say.

"We could slip away, wouldn't that be better Me with nothing to say, and you in your autumn sweater"

All of the older women in my neighborhood are outside raking and giggling and yelling to each other because it’s 60 degrees outside instead of 40 degrees. They are so friggin’ happy to be wearing their autumn sweaters in the sunshine.

what the fuck just happened.

sparkleneelysparkle:

so we passed a healthcare bill. which is great. i still dont understand WHY this has been such a struggle, but that is neither here nor there.

the fact is that the bill passed with the stupak amendment which i believe NARAL can explain better than i (although i have emphasized the crucial element):

“The Stupak-Pitts amendment makes it virtually impossible for private insurance companies that participate in the new system to offer abortion coverage to women. This would have the effect of denying women the right to use their own personal private funds to purchase an insurance plan with abortion coverage in the new health system — a radical departure from the status quo. Presently, more than 85 percent of private-insurance plans cover abortion services.”

so now its up to you as voters to contact your representatives about this and insure that our right to STAYING ALIVE and STAYING HEALTHY and thus CONTRIBUTING to motherfucking society isn’t given to us with caviats like those stated above.

With "Democrats" Like These...

whyinthehell:

ryking:

…who needs Republicans? 64 Democrats joined 176 Republicans to stick a shiv in the backs of hundreds of thousands of poor women; bipartisanship at its “finest.” Notice how it’s always one-sided and hews to the right?

The U.S. House of Representatives voted on Saturday to tighten a ban against using federal funds to finance abortions under the proposed Democratic healthcare reform legislation.

Opposition Republicans joined forces with anti-abortion Democrats to pass the amendment to the healthcare legislation on a vote of 240-194.

The amendment angered liberal Democrats who support abortion rights…

This is the kind of betrayal that led to me join the Green Party in 2008, and it’s the kind of betrayal that keeps me from donating to the odd Dem who still remembers that being a Democrat means not acting like a piece of right-wing trash.

Aaarghh!  This may be the last straw for me and the Democratic Party.  I think I’m switching to Green.  What a pathetic group of zip-lipped, sit-on-their-hands, self-destructive puppets the Dems are proving to be…over and over and over.

Twenty-three

When he was 23 and beautiful
He liked to hang around
With other beautiful people.

He liked to get intoxicated with them,
Have sex with them, make money
With them. Among them,

He found, one did not have to strain.
Other people
Wanted to hang around with them

And came bearing gifts,
A little something. (These
Gift-bearers were a lot like

Politics itself is, “Showbiz
For ugly people.”) In this world
If anything went wrong there

Was always enough money around
To cover it. After he was through
With this crowd he started hanging

Out with a bunch of academic
Gangsters. These were
A different crew altogether:

Smart, on the main, but mean
And eaten alive by resentment.
They never had enough money

And were bitter beyond belief,
Compared, say,
To a troupe of electricians.

Freud said somewhere
In our unconscious
We are always 23.
